What to Expect at Your Jen Loyer Boudoir Session in Prescott, AZ

Girl, sessions are so much fun. Let me tell you exactly what your day looks like, because I want you to walk in knowing what’s coming and already feeling it before we even start.

When You Get Here

You walk in, set your stuff down, and I give you a quick tour of the space. We get you some water, you take a breath, and within about five minutes you realize this is nothing like what you were nervous about. My makeup artist and I are not intimidating people. We are not serious and stiff. We are the people who will have you laughing before you even sit down in the makeup chair.

Hair and Makeup

You sit down and within five minutes we are all just talking. Not “so what do you do for work” small talk. Real talk. We share stories, we laugh, we get into it. Relationships, kids, work, the hard stuff, the good stuff, all of it. There is something about a room full of women that just opens up naturally and that is exactly what happens in that makeup chair.

We Move Into the Studio

This is where things get fun. We go through everything you brought and I map out your outfits and which sets we are using for each look. I have a vision before we even start shooting. You change into your first outfit and we get into it.

Here is what you need to know about how I shoot. I am a perfectionist. I am not standing there going snap snap snap and hoping something turns out. I am looking at every single detail before I press that button. Your pose, your light, your expression, the way your hand is sitting. I fix it first, then I shoot. Every frame is intentional.

A few shots in, I turn my camera around and show you the back of the screen. Unedited, straight out of camera. And I am going to be honest with you, this is my favorite moment of every single session. Because women see themselves and they lose it. Some of them cry. Not sad crying, the kind of crying that happens when you see something that takes your breath away and that something is you.

I am hyping you the entire time. I am telling you when an image is gorgeous because it IS gorgeous and you need to hear it. I am adjusting your pose, directing every single shot, and I will tell you honestly when something needs to change so we can fix it and get it right. You are never just standing there guessing. I have you.

We move through your outfits and your sets and the whole time the energy in that room is high. You came in nervous and somewhere in the middle of all of it you forget to be nervous anymore. You are just having the time of your life.

We Wrap Up

When we are done you change back into your regular clothes and we sit down to schedule your reveal appointment. That is when you get to see your full gallery for the first time. We hug goodbye and you walk out of that studio feeling like a completely different woman than the one who walked in. Not because anything about you changed. Because you finally saw what was already there.

That feeling is the whole point.
